Kraftetch also has benefits in that the manufacturing method is completely bur-free and stress-free, unlike other processes such as laser cutting, water-jet cutting or EDM wire erosion. The accuracy achievable with the photo etching process is extremely competitive with other methods, with tolerances starting at +/- 0.01mm depending on the material type and thickness. Feature can also be positioned to an accuracy of +/- 10 microns. In this process uses the etchant to cut the component profile, and the hardness of the material is not a factor for etching as can either etch very hard tool steel or annealed substrates.
